PRESS RELEASE – Sustainable Energy Community

PRESS RELEASE

Castlepollard Sustainable Energy Community

A party from Castlepollard Sustainable Energy Community led by Chair Stephen O’Brien travelled to Bloom HQ in Mountrath, Co.Offaly last Saturday to take part in a Midlands and South East regional gathering organised by the Sustainable Energy Agency of Ireland, SEAI.

The gathering brought together Sustainable Energy Communities to share experiences, network, meet other communities on the same journey and discuss how SEAI can better support our communities in the coming years.

As part of a network of over 750 Sustainable Energy Communities across Ireland, Castlepollard SEC is working to raise awareness of how to make financial savings through smarter use of energy, contribute to national climate change targets, produce your own energy and increase comfort from energy efficient community buildings and homes.

Westmeath was well represented at the gathering, in addition to Castlepollard, Mullingar and Tyrrellspass SECs were also in attendance at what was an inspiring and informative event.

The number of Sustainable Energy Communities is increasing and those that are already involved want to do more and have more impact locally. Here in Westmeath new SECs in Kinnegad and Delvin are up and running led by Denis Leonard and Davy Jones, respectively.

We are encouraging communities across Westmeath to get involved.

More information on the SEAI program can be found at  https://www.seai.ie/community-energy/sustainable-energy-communities/
