Castlepollard has received another significant boost with the Castlepollard Town Centre Regeneration and Public Realm Project being shortlisted for funding under the Government’s Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF).

Welcoming the news, Cllr. Denis Leonard congratulated the Castlepollard community and the local groups who have worked tirelessly to advance the plans for the town.

Cllr. Leonard said:

As well as the recent great news I posted recently about the Kinnegad Enterprise, Innovation and Co-working Hub being shortlisted by the Council for Government rural regeneration funding, I also want to congratulate the Castlepollard community on their public realm works being shortlisted as well.

Well done to all the local groups on the ground, especially Castlepollard Local Development, who spearheaded the plans for the Town Park development and Town Hall refurbishment in the initial Rural Regeneration application in 2019.

This second application for public realm works would now connect both.

Castlepollard Town Centre Regeneration and Public Realm Project

The proposed project will deliver a range of public realm and connectivity works throughout Castlepollard, including improvements connecting the Town Park to Market Square, further development of the Market Square, and enhancements to the Church Lane public realm.

The project represents a major investment in the future of Castlepollard, building on the work and vision developed through the earlier rural regeneration application in 2019.

Project funding:

• Total estimated project cost: €6.1 million
• RRDF grant-funded element: €4.9 million
• Match funding required: €1.2 million

The shortlisting of the project is an important step towards delivering a more connected, attractive and vibrant town centre for Castlepollard, linking key community and public spaces and supporting the continued regeneration of the town.
