Just a short drive from Castlepollard, the Franciscan Friary at Multyfarnham is one of Westmeath’s most remarkable historic and spiritual sites. Founded in 1269, it is the only Franciscan abbey in Ireland still standing on the footprint of its original foundation, and the Franciscan community continues its mission here today.
