Castlepollard Town Centre First Plan

Castlepollard Local Development (CLD) has received recognition in the newly published Castlepollard Town Centre First Plan, which outlines a long-term vision for the regeneration and sustainable development of the town.

The report highlights the Community Activation Consultation held on 11 January 2024, which was organised and facilitated by Castlepollard Local Development. The event brought together local residents, business owners and community stakeholders at the Castle Varagh Hotel to discuss practical ideas for strengthening Castlepollard’s future.

The consultation focused on identifying initiatives that could unlock the town’s potential and enhance its vitality for both residents and visitors. Among the themes discussed were community facilities, enterprise opportunities, environmental initiatives, tourism development and improvements to the built environment.

Ideas generated during the event ranged from the reuse of vacant buildings and the creation of enterprise hubs, to improved recreational amenities, heritage initiatives and stronger tourism links with nearby attractions such as Tullynally Castle, Fore Abbey and Lough Lene.

The Town Centre First Plan notes that this community-led consultation played an important role in gathering local insight and helping shape future regeneration priorities for Castlepollard.

Castlepollard Local Development remains committed to working with the wider community, local organisations and Westmeath County Council to help bring these ambitions to fruition and ensure a vibrant and sustainable future for the town.
